[lmce-dev] Fiire Chief and the mysterious buttons

Hello list!

I have a problem: I am trying to use the Fiire Chief with a regular
debian box, and most of it works automagically - the gyration works as
a USB mouse, the keys (most of them) work either as regular USB
keyboard keys or as media buttons on a USB keyboard (keytouch helps
there), but some buttons (like vol +/-, or the three 'magical' buttons
that control everything in lmce) are not recognized at all by anything
in my box.

So my question is: does anyone here know what kind of signals those
buttons send to the receiving machine?

Is it USB HID events, or something else entirely?

(I have looked, and some of the buttons DO send USB HID events, but
with some confusing extra spice - for example, the three special
buttons (the three-in-one button really) above the
'hold-the-pointer-still'-button DO send USB HID events, but they all
send the same event!)

I have tried to use the remote on my lmce box, and tried to decipher
how that box recognizes the buttons, but not had any success.

regards,
